Why a Drawing of Faces?

If you look closely, the faces in the drawing are of men, women, and children representing various groups here on the good planet Earth. The diversity of the human population is a central variable in the sociology perspective. Among the variables most sociologists study are race, ethnicity, gender, age, social class, and education, to mention only a few. We study them within the context of one's culture, in social institutions, and in terms of their impact on human interaction.

If you find the study of human populations of interest, be sure to take a course or two (or a minor or major, for that matter!) in one of the social sciences here at Missouri State. The College of Humanities and Public Affairs, previously known as the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, has several departments which specialize in the study of human society including:

History
Political Science
Religious Studies
Economics
Philosophy
Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminology
