A Graduate Update

The following provides an update on where some of our graduate students are, the kind of work they're doing, and more. If you know the whereabouts of any other of our graduates, please let us know and we'll add them to the list below for the next edition of the newsletter.

Baldwin, Stephen
recently earned a graduate degree in education from Pace University in New York City and is currently teaching social sciences in Bushwick, Brooklyn. He is also working on getting his credentials for school administration.

Bass, Aaron
lives in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and works for the Missouri Division of Youth Services. He was recently accepted into the graduate program in Criminal Justice at Central Missouri State University and is likely to start classes there in January of 2005.

Bell, Andrew

recently moved from the Missouri Water Patrol to being a Highway Patrol Officer with the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Biggers, Ryan
was actively involved in the field of probation and parole upon graduating from Missouri State with his major in Crime and Society. He recently was accepted in the United States Secret Service and is currently assigned to the office in Washington, D.C.

Boaz, R. Keith
After spending a year working in the private sector, Keith returned to Missouri State as the Assistant Director of Hammons Student Center and Plaster Sports Complex in August of 2003.  Keith has since received a promotion and now serves as the Associate Director of Hammons Student Center and Plaster Sports Complex.  In this role, Keith is responsible for assisting with the daily management of both facilities as well as the event management aspects of both facilities.

Bullock, Brian
is working on a Graduate study in Instructional Media Technology. The focus of this research is Juveniles and the effects the media has on leading them to criminal acts.

Capps, Jason
is still working on his Ph.D. from University of Kansas. He is living in Seattle and is an adjunct faculty member at Seattle University.

Cook, Wendy
is a Sociology instructor at Southern Illinois University.

Day, April
is currently working  towards her MA in Criminal Justice at Saint Louis University.

Fondren, Rachel
is currently working toward a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology at Missouri State. After graduation in May 2006 she plans to attend a Ph.D. program with a focus on Forensic Clinical Psychology.

Gill, Rakefet
graduated from the CAS program in 2003, moved to Lee's Summit (MO), and has started her Masters Degree program in Criminal Justice at Central Missouri State University.

Hackney, Walker J.
lives
in Lawrence, KS. He's establishing residency so he can qualify for in-state tuition to attend Kansas University Law School. Walker originally moved to Lawrence to help a high school friend run his computer repair and consulting business.  His official duties include drumming up new clients and business accounts. He gets to go around Lawrence to a bunch of law offices, doctor's offices and other small businesses that have computers and pitch the idea of hiring Tech Tutors (his employer) to maintain their computers. Walker also works in Loss Prevention for the Best Buy store in Lawrence.

Heyer, Nathan
works in Minnesota for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as a Customs and Border Protection Officer (CBP). He was hired under the former Immigration and Naturalization Service as a Immigration Inspector.

Hodge, Brandy
relocated to Olathe, Kansas last October and is currently seeking employment within the Criminal Justice field.

Lee, Jesse
has been a field biologist doing avian-research, working in Washington State, Arizona, New Mexico and Hawaii.

Niezgoda, Robert
recently graduated with a Master’s in Public Health and is currently working with the Springfield-Greene County Health Department.

Pettit, Sheena
is a Deputy Juvenile Officer for the 38th Circuit, Taney & Christian County.

Petrowsky, Sara
is working on a Master’s in Sociology at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Phillips, Mark
is an Officer in the Springfield (MO) Police Department.

Reitzner, Brianna
is working in the Emergency Room at St. John’s and applying to Physician Assistant programs.

Rozell, Gregory
works at Borders Books in Springfield and is planning to enter law school at the University of Missouri - Kansas City in August of 2005.

Sanford, Carol
from the class of 1973, Sociology major and History minor. Carol has a doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) specializing in services to children and youth with special needs. Her master's is in speech-language pathology and she has taught at the university level.

Thomas, Mary Lou
now works in the long term care industry.

Schlosser, Jennifer
is in the Master’s program at the University of Missouri-Columbia and plans to enter the Ph.D. program.

Shelley, Amy
is currently working at OTC. She will be starting the Master’s program in Education at Drury in the Spring.

If you are a graduate of one or more of our programs, and you would like to include a brief biographical statement about yourself in the next issue, please email your statement  to the Editor. A picture of your lovely face would be nice - digital, if possible, or bring/mail one to the SOC/ANT office and we'll scan it in. Of course, you don't have to send a picture. We'll still include your statement.
